Hey Everybody!
So this is my Christmas Break entry even though it's over. Christmas was really nice around our place. Even though we only got our tree half decorated in time for Christmas and had it down again by New Year, it was still pretty. For Christmas Eve this year, the church decided they'd had enough of the mess the wax from candles makes on the chairs so they had little battery-operated ones (my own mother's idea). I hated them and mentioned that to my mother every time she brought them up. They were so fake looking! The rest of the service went quite well. My mom and sister sang in the ladies ensemble of "Not that Far From Bethlehem". I sang Silent Night with Abbey Jones at the end of the service. After that, we went over to the Treleaven's house for a Christmas dinner.
The next morning, we all woke up around 9 and opened gifts, just the 5 of us, around the tree in the living room. I got a new iPod!!! I was uber happy! Around 11, we headed out to my Granparents's place in Lumby where my two aunts, two uncles and four cousins provided an exciting afternoon. After about a kajillion games of operation, clue, disney trivial pursuit and other games with my cousins, we all sat down for Chrismtas dinner. It was really nice.
On December 27, my family went to my Pake's cabin for 2 nights. My uncle Carey, Aunt Juanita and cousins Brodie and Adina came up too. It was really fun but FREEZING COLD! Inside the cabin and all times we were pretty much wearing 4 layers of clothes. We went ice fishing, played board games and card games, chatted about what to do if you're being kidnapped(which i will tell all about after) and just hung around. It was really fun since the last time i was at the cabin was when i was 7 years old. One funny thing that happened was on the last day, since the cabin has no running water, i couldn't rinse my retainers (i know it's yucky but it's a funny story). So i put them in a cup full of hot water to soak. My mother, not seeing the retainers and thinking the cup was just full of water, tossed it over the deck railing of the cabin into a foot of snow. So, we had to go into the snow and dig out the retainers, one of which is completely clear! It was exciting. So that;s my funny story!
Here are a few of the things my aunt told me about how not to get kidnapped:
-Do not yell "help" because people do not want to get involved. Instead, yell "fire"
-If there is a creepy looking person who is looking at you, make eye contact with them cuz it makes them think that you are more secure and would be a bad person to have as a witness for a crime they commit
-Most kidnappers grab people my their ponytails or braids so if you are alone somewhere, tuck your hair into your sweater or wear a hood
Yeah so that's all the 'dont get kidnapped' tips i've got for now. After we got home from the cabin, we pretty much just chilled at home for the rest of the break. Oh and i had my birthday on January 5 so i am no officially 15! Since iPods are pretty expensive, it was my birthday and Christmas gift from my parents.
So i just got home from babysitting and Melissa informed me that her and i have now finished paying for Mexico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That just made my day cuz i have some money but i didn;t wanna use it for Mexico cuz i am saving up to go back to Russia this summer which is $3500. I don;t know if that;s gonna happen yet or what;s going on so please, keep me in your prayers that i can figure out soon what on earth i am doing. I was thinking maybe i should just stay home from Russia this summer and get a job. That way i coudl for sure go next summer. The downside to that is that some of my friends that i met there will be to old to come back by next summer so i really have no idea what to do!!
Ok well, i'm pretty exhausted so i think i'm gonna go read or something!
